Mavrotragano is an incredibly rare indigenous grape from the volcanic terroir of Santorini. It covers less than 3% of the island’s vineyards. It is a deeply coloured, tannic, and medium-to high-acid red grape variety meaning ‘black and crunchy’. This magnificent example exhibits aromas of wild red cherries. 12 months in medium toasted 225lt French oak barrels gives it a full-bodied and powerful flavour with savoury characteristics. Flavours that combine red and black fruit, spices, minerals, tobacco, and gentle tannins. It was bottled unfiltered. Try this rare red wine with red meat stews and game.
