Alargo means 'far away' or distant. This is a fabulous Cretan take on the Syrah variety which is most revered in France's northern Rhone. To succeed, Syrah needs ripeness but plenty of structured acidity. The Alargo ticks all the boxes, perhaps thanks to being grown at 300 metres in the hills above Dafnes in Crete. Inky blue-black colour, unmistakable dense bouquet of spiced damson, plums, with hints of tobacco and leather and a kiss of vanilla. Intense blueberry and mulberry fruit, plump and tinged with vanilla from 12 months in barriques. All so well balanced with a super long finish.
